My month in the US went by quickly and before I knew it, I was heading back to Vienna. However, I had a great visit lined up with my friend Claire. We've been friends since freshman year at Grove City and she figured out how to take time off work to come and see me. We landed on the same day in Vienna but like 3 hours apart.

She was able to spend 10 days here in Vienna and during that time we did a lot. We visited all the major sights in Vienna and it was fun showing her around the city I live in. One thing we did that I hadn't done before was going on a Hitler Walking Tour. Since Hitler was Austrian and spent some years in Vienna before the Reich came to power, there are buildings and places that are of interest. The tour covered Hitler's university days in Vienna as well as several monuments that were made after WW2 in remembrance of the Jews and other minority groups that were killed during the Holocaust. We also spent one day in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, since it's only a 1 hour bus ride away. One day we took the train to the foothills of the Alps in Lower Austria and went up the mountains in the Schneeberg area. We ate some Wiener Schnitzel, kasekrainer, and Eis Greisler. It was great to see Claire and catch up with her while going around Vienna.

Here are some of the pictures we took from her visit.
