School Starts

Summer's over, parents are rejoicing, and school is starting once again. I feel more prepared for this year since it is my second year at ICSV but there are still many unknowns about this school year.

Over the summer, my classroom was moved from my small room into a larger shared room. I now share a classroom with the secondary learning support teacher and an elementary ELL teacher. I am the only one who is in the room consistently since the other two will have most of their classes in other areas of the school. The secondary learning support teacher only has one class in the room and the ELL teacher does on-on-one pull-outs in the room. Meanwhile, I'm in the room all day teaching. I have doubled the amount of children on my caseload this year as well as added two modified math classes. Both math classes only have one student in them but the reason they aren't together is because it is siblings who are in two different grades. I really enjoy the time I have with each of them but it means that I have more teaching time this year.

We have four new teachers in the elementary department this year and so it will be different from last year. One thing that hasn't changed is how long it takes to get the pull-out schedule finalized. There are so many things that go into the timing of pull-out support and we all have to work with each other to figure it out. Thankfully, the teachers here are great and we got it done.

The theme this year for the whole school is "Imagine" and the theme verse is Ephesians 3:20-21. "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen!" One reason our Director chose this verse is because of the amazing work God did in our school last year and how she believes He will continue the work this year. Last year, the school was able to purchase the property adjacent to ours which will allow us to expand and double our current school. This was a miracle because ICSV was bidding against a commercial building company. The next stage is going to be getting the rezoning permits, finding an architect, and raising funds for the new building. The new building will allow us to continue to offer Christian education to a nation that is very lost.
